AAMC MCAT Examinee Update: January 28, 2022

Dear Examinee,

Below are a few important updates about the 2022 MCAT testing year and registration for July through September test dates. Please don’t hesitate to email your questions to mcat@aamc.org or visit our website at www.aamc.org/mcat to learn more.  Attend the MCAT 2022 Registration Webinar   If you missed our registration opening webinar in the fall, which described the 2022 testing year and registration process, we are holding a second presentation on Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 3-4:15 p.m. ET. Please register and submit your questions in advance. Members of the MCAT team will answer your pre-submitted questions at the end of the webinar. We hope you can join us!  MCAT Registration for July-September 2022 dates     Registration for the second half of the testing year will open on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at noon ET. At that time, you can begin scheduling exams held in July through September. All testing locations will be available for scheduling on Feb. 8.  Registration Schedule Monday, Feb. 7 at noon ET – MCAT Registration System closes to prepare for Feb.8 opening. You are encouraged to fill out the first five tabs of information in the system before it closes ahead of registration.  Tuesday, Feb. 8 at noon ET – Registration opens for scheduling for all testing locations. The MCAT Registration System will remain open for the remainder of the testing year.  Accommodations Advance scheduling is available for examinees with approved accommodations. Information about advance scheduling was sent to examinees with approved accommodations earlier this month. You can reach out to Pearson VUE with questions regarding scheduling at 1-800-466-0450 (select option 3).   Learn more about registration and scheduling in 2022.   Tips for Feb. 8 Registration #1 Save time Fill out the first five tabs of information in the MCAT Registration System before opening day. It will save you about 5-10 minutes on opening day and will take you straight to scheduling when you log in. If you use autofill, please be sure to double check that your name matches the first and last names on your government ID. Learn more in this brief video about the registration system.   #2 Apply for AAMC Fee Assistance Program benefits early The 2022 AAMC Fee Assistance Program application will open on Jan. 31.  If you want to use your benefits for registration, learn more now about what you need to apply and submit your materials early.  AAMC Fee Assistance Program benefits are not retroactive.  #3 Understand how the waiting room works More examinees schedule an exam on opening days of MCAT registration than on any other day, especially in the first few hours.  When the system first opens, you can expect a longer line with wait times of an hour or more.   The good news is we have a waiting room that will show you your place in line and include an estimated wait time until it’s your turn to register. We can also hold your place in line so you don’t need to wait by your computer or mobile device. Learn more about the waiting room and how it works.

  • There is no advantage to logging into the registration system more than 10 minutes before noon on registration day. At 11:50 a.m. ET, the system will randomly assign anyone already logged in with a place in line to register. If you log in after 11:50 a.m. ET, you will be behind the randomly assigned group.
  • Don’t open multiple browsers or refresh your waiting room page. This will not give you an advantage and may result in a longer wait time for you.
  • Don’t share your waiting room Queue-it ID with others. It can bump you or them out of the system, put you in the back of the waiting line, and can cause scheduling delays.

Review AAMC Guidelines for Discussing the Exam Taking the MCAT exam is a big accomplishment. We know you might want to share your experiences after this milestone. As a reminder, we have a simple set of guidelines that provides insight into what you can and can’t discuss in person and in online forums after your test. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at mcatsecurity@aamc.org
