Looking for Assistant/Care-Giver for Adult with Down Syndrome
Job Description:
Looking for a part-time assistant/care-giver for a vibrant 32-year old female with Down syndrome. The position includes helping our daughter with her weekly routine, ranch chores, assisting with her egg business, working along with service dog, and having fun integrating within the community!
Supporting her requires someone with patience, a compassionate heart, and attentiveness, which helps her feel safe, connected to others, and comfortable. A willingness and ability to learn and interpret instructions in supporting individuals with disabilities is important. Setting the person up for success is key.
• Part-time / 2-3 days a week / shifts 10-5 pm with flexibility
• Motivate and support when completing daily activities/tasks
• Monitor and ensure the client’s safety
• Work with stimulating the brain through exercise, music, games, and reading
• Help with ranch/egg micro-enterprise business
• Monitor and be attentive to her emotions and actions
• Companionship
• Help with personal care and meal preparation (when parents not home)
• Chores that help her contribute to family
• Daily exercise: hikes, walks, swimming, basketball, throw football
• Follow daily schedule
• Bathroom and Hydration (drink water) reminders
• Engaging in LIFE and FUN!!!
Qualifications
• Must pass a background check and reference check
• Excellent driving record and car insurance
• CPR certified
• Swimming experience / love for exercise and animals are a plus
• Background in special education/biology/recreation/animal science is also plus
