Arts in Health as a Field
Arts in health (also referred to as arts in medicine or arts in healthcare) is a multidisciplinary field dedicated to transforming health and the healthcare experience through the arts. The field integrates literary, performing, and visual arts and design, along with other forms of creative expression, into a variety of healthcare and community settings to enhance health and well-being in diverse institutional and community contexts (NOAH, 2017).

Curriculum
The MA in Arts in Medicine requires 36 credit hours of coursework to complete. Students also complete both a hands-on practicum and capstone to gain crucial hands-on experience in practice, research, and evaluation in their own community. Graduate Certificate (GC) in Arts in Medicine
Engage the arts to enhance healthcare, empower patients, care for caregivers, and bring joy to clinical or outpatient clinical settings. This program is designed for students and professionals of all backgrounds interested in the intersection of arts and health. Each of the courses offered through our certificate program is designed to reflect the best practices in the field of arts in health.

The UF Center for Arts in Medicine and its faculty provide a rigorous curriculum that supports students as they develop their bedside manner and creative facilitation skills. Our certificate program also provides an introduction to advanced research, ethics, safety, and administration concepts and resources from our MA curriculum.
Curriculum
The Graduate Certificate in Arts in Medicine requires 12 credit hours of coursework to complete. Students will also participate in a practicum course where they facilitate creative activities at a self-selected hospital or clinical site in their home community. The application deadline for the Spring '22 cohort of both programs (MA and GC in Arts in Medicine) is Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Classes will begin in the first week of January, 2022.
