We are so excited to announce that our applications for the SLO Days Leader and WOW Leader positions are now open! In these difficult and often isolating times, we believe that facilitating connections between new students and student leaders is more important now than ever.
Both of these positions offer students incredible leadership skill growth, professional growth, and the opportunity to shape over 4,000 students' first experiences at Cal Poly and with Cal Poly students. For more specifics about each position, we have provided some position highlights below and have linked both position description documents in this post. We have also linked our Information Session slides, which go into more detail about each position and application.
SLO Days Summer Crew Leaders
SLO Days Summer Crew is responsible for guiding incoming students and supporters as they make connections with other participants, current students, and campus/community partners while exploring Cal Poly during their SLO Days visit. SLO Days Summer Crew Leaders work to create a positive, inclusive, and welcoming experience for all new students and their supporters throughout the summer.
The SLO Days Summer Crew position is a paid position. Position Description: SLO Days Summer Crew Leaders
WOW Leaders
Week of Welcome Leaders are responsible for guiding incoming students through their transition to their new community. WOW Leaders will be assigned a small group of new students and will host them through a week of building community, making connections, navigating the Cal Poly cultural climate as well as learning to find their way around the physical layout of the land where we learn. Leaders learn how to lead a group with a co-leader, welcome new students to Cal Poly, and expand their knowledge on a variety of training topics.
The WOW Leader position is a volunteer position. For more information about the position, visit our WOW Leader application info hub at www.tinyurl.com/weekofwelcomeinfohub2021. To apply for this position, you will need to complete the written application. If you are interested in being a CCE WOW Leader, a Transfer WOW Leader, or a member of our WOW Event Staff, you will fill out the same application and indicate your track preference at the end of the application.
