Article: "How Osteopathic Medical Schools are Fostering and Anti-Racist Culture"

Author Rose Raymond discusses how osteopathic medical schools and the AACOM have been continuing their efforts to support diversity and inclusion efforts. She uses examples from Dr. Barbara Ross-Lee, the first African-American woman to serve as dean of a U.S. medical school, as well as leaders from three schools who share how their institution is taking strides to combat racism:

  • Tanisha King, PhD, first Chief Inclusion Officer at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Yvonne Torruella Ortiz, Rowan, director of DEI at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM)
  • Dr. Hill, diversity officer and associate dean for multicultural affairs at The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine
