Undocu-Issues Series: Hear Our Voices - Activism and Community Engagement Beyond Voting

The following is a message from the Cal Poly Dream Center:

Undocu-Issues Event 2: Activism and Community Engagement Beyond Voting

“'Vote to make a change' but what happens when you can’t vote? This does not have to define the power of your voice or your actions. Join us to learn more about the impact you can make through advocacy and activism and the importance of finding a support system.

"Our discussion will be led by the wonderful, Valeria Suarez (they/she), an undocumented queer organizer from Lima, Peru. During the past few years, they have focused on supporting deportation defense cases to free undocumented community members from detention. Valeria is currently the Bay Area Youth Coordinator for the California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance (CIYJA). Her work is centered around creating spaces for undocumented youth to learn deportation defense models to protect themselves and their communities. Valeria also serves as the coordinator for FREESF Coalition, organizing at the intersection of criminal justice reform and immigrant rights.

"Please make sure to RSVP. We hope to see you there!"
