Program Spotlight: Georgetown M.S. in Physiology

"Regular" Master's in Physiology

The Master's in Physiology ("regular" program) is an academic enhancement program designed for strong science students (BS or BA) who have already completed all off the undergraduate pre-health science requirements. This one-year, non-thesis program is designed to prepare students for careers in medicine, dentistry, and the allied health professions, as well as careers in biomedical research, education, and administration. This program is designed to be completed in two terms (10 months), but the flexible curriculum allows for alternative schedules (no online classes are offered). Schedules for part-time students can be made with special arrangements; students interested in part-time study should indicate this on their application.

The curriculum consists of medically related graduate courses. Required courses provide an advanced science framework and elective courses allow students to tailor the program to their specific interests and career goals.

The average applicant GPA to the "regular" Master's Program is a 3.5, and the average cohort size is approximately 35 students. No MCAT or GRE score is required to apply to the program.

For prospective Fall 2020 (and beyond) applicants to the "regular' MS in Physiology, Georgetown University will be hosting monthly online admissions chats. Please RSVP to be added to their prospective students group and to receive an invitation to the next admissions chat (the next chat admissions chat is being offered today, June 10th, from 4:00 - 5:00 pm Pacific).

Special Master's in Physiology (SMP)

The Special Master's in Physiology (SMP) Program is a 10-month MS program exclusive to students pursuing a career in medicine who wish to strengthen their academic credentials for application to medical school. Students in the SMP take 6 first-year medical courses alongside GUSOM medical students, in addition to rigorous medically related graduate courses. There is no research option.

The average applicant GPA to Special Master's Program is a 3.2, and the average cohort size is approximately 185 students. An MCAT score is required to be considered for admission to the program.
