Summer Opportunity: Volunteer with Camp Promise

The mission of Camp Promise is to provide a barrier-free, week-long overnight camp for kids, teens, and adults with muscular dystrophy or select neuromuscular diseases - regardless of age, capability, or ability to pay. Their camper-focused programming builds independence, confidence, and life skills through traditional camp activities and by bringing campers new experiences through adaptation, technology, creativity, and special guests.

Undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the following two volunteer positions:

  1. Counselor - Cabin counselors work one-on-one with the same camper for the duration of the camp session. Counselors are the primary caregiver for their camper and are responsible for being a friend to their camper throughout the week. Counselors also assist with and encourage all campers to participate in activities, provide personal care to campers in their cabin, and guide campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Being a counselor is an overnight position and you should be prepared to sleep in the cabin with your camper to provide help should they need it during the night.
  2. Program Team - Camp Promise provides fun, exciting and camper-focused programming each summer. Various program team positions include:
    • Photographer
    • Yearbook Editor
