"Writing A Personal Statement for Your Dental School Application"

This article, written by Anirudha Agnihotry, B.D.S., D.D.S. outlines how to develop a strong, genuine personal statement when applying to dental schools.

COVID-19 Update for ADEA AADSAS Applicants

The ADEA AADSAS (ADEA Associated American Dental School Application Service) application will still open as planned on May 12, 2020. Not only will ADEA AADSAS open on time, but ADEA will continue to work with dental schools to provide applicants comprehensive information about any school-based admissions changes.

Until then, as you are at home practicing social distancing, put your best (virtual) foot forward with these steps:
  • Review your resume to ensure all experiences are included.
  • Write a strong essay about why you are choosing this profession.
  • Connect with faculty and advisors who will become your evaluators. Ask if their processes for writing evaluations have changed.
  • Attend the 2020 ADEA GoDental Virtual Fair on May 19. Registration opens in April.
  • Gather materials to submit for the ADEA AADSAS Fee Assistance Program, if eligible. Updates will be made available in the Help Center.
Questions: Contact ADEA AADSAS Customer Service, which is open year-round, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

2020 ADEA GoDental Virtual Fair

The 2020 ADEA GoDental Virtual Fair on May 19 will connect you with 50+ U.S. and Canadian dental school representatives so you can learn about schools' missions and values and determine the best fit for you.

Additionally, by attending #GDVF20, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Prepare to submit your ADEA AADSAS application by having all your questions answered by customer service,
  • Discover concrete tips and advice about applying to dental school in the Resource Library and
  • Learn from current dental students how to put your best foot forward within the application and during interviews.
Registration opens in April - click here to learn more!

Internship Opportunity

The ADEA Educational Pathways department - the gateway to dental education - is looking for a 2020 summer intern. They are an essential resource for students interested in careers in the dental professions, students in dental education programs, counselors, health professions advisors, admissions officers, and dental educators. ADEA's Educational Pathways staff direct four centralized application services and administer several recruitment initiatives.

The ADEA Education Pathways student internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about ADEA centralized application services, recruitment programs, and other initiatives. Plus, it offers the prospect of contributing to ADEA GoDental, the website for individuals interested in dentistry and dental hygiene. This internship is designed to help increase students' interest in the dental professions. Visit the ADEA Enrichment Calendar for more information about the internship application process.
