Cal Poly PULSE to host "New Year No Fear" Event, Encouraging Physical Activity and Self Care

The challenges we face as pre-health students are seemingly never ending. With schedules jam-packed with classes, homework, volunteering, research, and a number of other activities, it's easy to let our own needs (sleep, exercise, mindfulness, healthy eating) fall to the wayside. As busy as we are, it's extremely important that we find the time to care for ourselves and our bodies. Peer Educators from PULSE's Fitness & Nutrition Team have organized a campaign called "New Year No Fear", which encourages students to be active and care for themselves in a variety of ways: from free yoga classes at Spark Yoga and SLO Yoga center, to mind-body meditation, to salsa dancing classes, there are a number of different events geared toward increasing student wellness during the week of January 27th to the 31st. Attendees of any of the events hosted during the week will be entered into a raffle for a free 1-month membership to SLO Yoga Center or Spark Yoga.

Other New Year No Fear events include:
  • Low-cost cooking class
  • On-campus yoga
  • Body positivity speaker
  • On-campus hike
  • Food bank distribution site
  • Boothing at Dexter Lawn: free water bottles, yoga mats, meditation books, and information about the other events!
